Archive retension:

update copygroup domain_name policy_set_name class_name type=Archive destination=pool_name RETVer=days

(Note: if you don't need to modify destination then skip the destination=pool_name)

Backup retension:

update copygroup domain_name policy_set_name class_name type=Backup VERExists=Number VERDeleted=number RETExtra=days RETOnly=days

To know the destination and retension of a particular management class

To know the destination and retension of a particular management class, whether its backup or archive, below are the useful select statements.

For Archive copy-group

Select * from AR_COPYGROUPS

For backup copy-group:

Select * from BU_COPYGROUPS

For selecting specific files from a storage (primary or copy storage)pool

For specific node in a particular storage pool:

query occupancy node_name stgpool=stgpool_name

For all files in a specific storage pool:

query occupancy stgpool=stgpool_name

For all files in all storage pools(primary and copy storage pool):

query occupancy

For all files for one specific node:

query occupancy node_name

To select data for nodes with respect to storage pool

select node_name, stgpool_name,sum(num_files) as Number_of_files, sum(physical_mb) as MB from occupancy group by node_name, stgpool_name

To know onsite and offsite tapes using select statements.

For Auditing use below select statements for ONSITE tapes:

tsm: server>select volume_name,access from volumes where access<>'OFFSITE'

Select statement for OFFSITE tapes:

tsm: server>select volume_name,access from volumes where access='OFFSITE'

Restoring a nodes data.

RESTORES

To restore a d:/mydir , as it was on july 4th , 2001

Find tapes needed to restore a node

>>>>select distinct node_name,volume_name,stgpool_name

from volumeusage where node_name='xxxxx'

Restore a file with spaces in the name , Enclose the filepath in quotes.

>>>>>tsm> restore "\\server name\c$\\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\file name.ext"

Alternate server Restores (Restoring node A data on other node B).

ALTERNATE SERVER RESTORES ( 2 ways )

First way:

dsm.opt:

changing the dsm.opt file. Say you want to restore client A's filespaces to client B, Just go into the dsm.opt of clientB, and change the NODENAME parameter from ClientB to ClientA. You can then kick off a normal restore.

Second way:

grant access :

safe way is to grant access. Issue this command from the DSM prompt in ServerA

SET Access Backup * Server_B

the recovery command is

res -fromnode=serverA serverA/filename serverB/filename

To delete a node and its associated files from TSM server.

Follow these steps to delete a node from TSM server.

1)delete association domain_name schedule_name node_name1,node_name2,....

2)del filespaces node1 * (this removes all backup data for node1)

3)remove node node_name.

move nodes data to tape when Disk space is full

for an example, lets say we wanted to move something to tape.

1. q occ relofa1

Look for the /opt/app/....  filesystem that is using 735449.7

/opt/app/oraclefa64 seems to be the filesystem in this example.

2. Move the data to tape:

Move nodedata relofa1 from=nasoff to=lto-off fi=/opt/app/oraclefa64 maxpr=2

To checkin the new tapes as scratch volumes.

LABEL libvolume TAPESTL01 search=bulk labels=barcode checkin=scratch 

To update a volume from 'UNAVAILABLE' or 'READONLY' to 'READWRITE'
